Sometimes, you just want your food to taste good.
You just don’t care about the nutrition factor.
You just want something to make you feel better, to comfort you or to just flat out give you pleasure…
Well, what if I told you you can totally get your cake AND eat it too?
I have many recipes that fit that bill already, but I think this one here just takes the cake (hmmm, cake, again? Could it be that I’ve had sweets on my mind lately?).
For one, it’s SUPER easy to make. It’ll only take you a few minutes at most, I swear!
Second, it tastes really awesome! Probably even better than most of the soft serves you can get at the ice cream parlor.
It’s just BURSTING with flavor.
Raspberries and chocolate overload just explodes in your mouth.
As for the banana… wait, what banana? Is there really banana in there? Noooo, you must be mistaken. There can’t be banana in there.
Are you sure? ‘cuz I can’t taste it at all!
Oh, and the texture.
THE TEXTURE!!!
Smooth, creamy, SILKY!
Dreeeaaaaaamy…
What, you’re still reading? You’re STILL not convinced? Alright, let me go on, then…
The syrup? Surely the syrup can’t be healthy?
Well… you better believe it! Even that super chocolatey, super sweet and crazy delicious syrup is good for ya!
GOOD FOR YOU, I TELL YA! So pour it on and pour it on thick! You don’t even need to feel one single iota of guilt.
Go on… trust me. POUR!!!
What’s that you ask?
Nutrition Facts? Nutri… what?
Oh, yeah. It’s got some of that too… but I won’t ruin it for you. Not now…
Just enjoy the moment. Do your mind AND body good and lose yourself in one of these babies.

INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup frozen raspberries
- ½ frozen banana
- 2 tbsp dark cocoa powder
- 1 scoop vanilla flavored whey protein powder
- ¼ cup fat free plain Greek yogurt
- pinch cinnamon
- 2 tbsp dark cocoa powder
- 1 tsp unpasteurized honey
- 4 tbsp pasteurized egg whites
INSTRUCTIONS
- Start by making the syrup by mixing the egg whites, honey and dark cocoa powder until smooth and silky. Reserve.
- Add all ingredients for the soft serve to your mini blender or food processor and process on pulse until all the ingredients blend together to form this creamy, dreamy, smooth semi-frozen concoction.
- You might have to stop a few times and scrape the sides a little and push everything back down to get the action going again.
- Once desired consistency is achieved, transfer to serving glass or bowl and garnish with fresh raspberries and basil leaves if desired.
- Pour some of that delicious chocolate sauce all over your "ice cream" and enjoy!

WHOA! Who would have thunk?

I always have a dilemma when I try to decide what I love more: chocolate or berries. Now the problem is solved. I am definitely making this!
There you go!
Hope you like it as much as I do. I am totally addicted to that one!
Wow the soft serve looks just so beautiful. A true dessert huh
Wonderful job! I love the combination of raspberry and chocolate. So good.
Raspberry and chocolate is one of my favorites chocolate combo. My ultimate favorite would be chocolate orange, but I don’t think it would work very well with ice cream… Although I am now tempted to give it a try!
I can’t believe how amazing this looks. And that sauce is so glossy!
Thank you so much Loretta, very kind of you to say!
I haven’t had softserve in too long! This one looks incredible. I’m thinking as I type what I could sub out the egg whites for…I have a chocolate syrup recipe from old in mind!
Inspirational as always!
Sub the egg whites for…??? Come on, Michelle! You got me all curious now. What are you gonna use instead? Glad to inspire!
I’ve made a chocolate sauce just using almond milk, cornstarch or arrow root and the maple syrup with cocoa powder before so it should work again!
Interesting… Did you cook that at all?
I love the swirls you were able to get in the ice cream, that’s amazing. This looks SO good. Very similar to the breakfast I generally make for myself – loads of frozen fruit blended with protein powder and topped with mixed nuts. Totally get to ice cream consistency. Ice cream for breakfast? Hells ya!
Hell yeah is so right! I LOVE me some ice cream for breakfast. I have it almost every day and I just can’t seem to get enough. Now I need to start working on a decadent cookie dough or brownie batter version!
Really? You had me at “it’s only takes a few minutes at most”. WOW! This looks amazing! Will have to try this sometime.
Now how did you create those gorgeous swirls from food processor to glass? They look so professional! I especially love the first photo… the combination of chocolate and raspberry is just so exquisite to me and the colour in the photo really captures it…I wouldn’t need the sauce (though it sounds lovely too). I must try this one! (I think I need to put a processor or magic bullet or whatever the other one was called on my list to Santa because I only have a blender and clearly, it’s limiting me
). Sister, you must buy protein powder by the ton!
.
LOL! I do go through a few pounds of protein powder every month, I have to admit. I do add it to practically everything! I must have at least one or 2 scoops per day. Love the stuff, what can I say?
And thank you so very much for all the kind words. I truly appreciate that, as always! The swirls I created with a pastry bag equipped with a big star tip. Nothing to it, really! Hey, that’s the pastry chef in me, I can’t help it. I love piping things out of a bag… it makes ‘em look pretty, I find.
Definitely have Santa bring you one of those small food processors (LOVE the Ninja, seriously!) you’ll wonder how you ever managed to live without one. It’ll be your favorite Christmas present ever, I’m almost certain of that!
Of course, the full size version, Kitchenaid type thing, is also very handy to have! How generous is your Santa?
Yum!!! What is better than raspberries and chocolate? Your soft serves always look just wonderful, but this one looks like it really does take the cake!
Thanks so much Heidi, that’s super nice of you to say!
