At this time of year, as in right on time for Valentine’s Day, thinly sliced beef for Chinese fondue can be found absolutely everywhere… and it goes for a very decent price too, so it’s a good time to stock up!

This kind of beef is a really neat thing to have in the freezer, I swear.

Why? Well, for starters, the slices are always made from a very lean cut of beef, so that makes it a very convenient and quick way to get access to tasty lean protein.

Secondly, it thaws in no time at all and cooks in even less time!

Thirdly, it’s incredibly versatile. You can use it for sooooo much more than just fondue, you know.

You can actually whip up a myriad of quick dishes with this kind of meat, from pasta to omelets, to pizzas and sandwiches. I think my favorite of all would be a Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich.

I recently was in the mood for one, probably because one of my co-workers had been eating one right before my very envious eyes, so I had decided that I was gonna fix myself one at home. But then I saw these beautiful Whole Grain Tandoori Naan Breads at the grocery store and got an instant, crazy craving for one so I just had to buy them.

No biggie, I’d only need make my sandwich into a pizza instead. I’m sure it wouldn’t mind!

In fact, it didn’t mind at all… and what a great call this was!

Wow! For sure, this is a new favorite of mine, I can tell you that! Talk about a perfect quick fix for whenever pizza cravings strike and I’m in a pinch.

Now, since I had no cream cheese that I could use on hand, I decided to use Greek yogurt and Meaux mustard instead. Honestly, I think it was even better! I really appreciated the extra little zing that this combination brought to the whole experience.

Seriously, this was one yummy pizza guys. And I think that it takes less time to make than a frozen pizza, only it’s so much better.

It’s pizza you can afford to make on a week night…

It’s also the kind of meal that you can very well have the the little ones help with…

But mostly, this is the kind of dish that you can whip up in a pinch when the big game is on!

It’s super healthy, but no one will mind… not even the guys! In fact, they’ll probably ask for more, so you might want to make a couple extras…

Besides, I’m pretty sure that, just like any pizza, it’ll be just as good the next day, right out of the box fridge!

Quick and Easy “Philly” Cheese Steak Pizza

Servings: 1

Ingredients

For each pizza, you will need:

  • One Whole Grain Naan Bread
  • 2 tbsp fat free plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp whole grain Meaux mustard
  • 1 tsp za'atar, you can sub oregano or any other dried herb
  • 125 g thinly sliced lean beef, for Chinese fondue
  • 125 g mushrooms, sliced
  • 50 g light Mozzarella cheese, grated
  • A handful of fresh arugula leaves
  • A handful of fresh sprouts, I used daikon

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 475F
  • In a hot non-stick pan, cook the mushrooms until they are slightly golden on both sides, about 2 minutes total. Remove from pan and set aside.
  • While the mushrooms are cooking, pile your slices of beef into 2 or 3 piles and slice them into thin strips. Seperate the strips and throw them in the pan after you have removed the mushrooms. Cook the meat until it becomes nice and golden, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, spread yogurt and mustard on top of the naan bread and sprinkle za'atar all over.
  • Add the mushrooms, cooked beef and finally, grated cheese.
  • Throw your pizza on a cookie sheet and cook it in the oven for about 5 minutes, until the cheese melts and starts to turn golden.
  • Sprinkle arugula and sprouts over your pizza, cut into slices and enjoy while it's still hot!
