Bunless Hamburger [aka Super Tasty Beef Patties with all the fixin’s]
So I was in the mood for a big, fat, juicy hamburger with all my favorite fixin’s: pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, mayo, mustard… you name it!
Oh, bacon would’ve been nice too. But I didn’t have any in the fridge.
Pff. Boo for that! Guess I was gonna have to do without.
What’s funny is I didn’t necessarily crave the bun, or even the notion of a bun. What I really wanted was the meat.
A THICK, BEEFY, TASTY, JUICY MEAT PATTY.
With all the fixin’s.
Let’s not forget the fixin’s!
And so that’s exactly what I did!
Made me a beautiful batch of hamburger patties, which I then ate with a bunch of beautiful fresh veggies.
Oh, and mayo, and mustard.
Unfortunately, I had to leave the pickles out as they were not Whole30® compliant. But I didn’t even miss them all that much.
After all, I had the most important part of the burger right there in front of me…
And let me tell you, these burger patties are so full of flavor, they don’t need much of anything!
And they sure hit the spot!

I do a lot of bunless burgers – usually on a big bed of salad… sometimes I make them myself, sometimes I buy grass-fed burgers.
I love them though!
I love making juicy homemade burgers. I wrap mine in lettuce and I am good to go! Don’t even miss the bun.
Ha, it would seem that we both had burgers on our mind! I went for the chicken though, but this beef babies look pretty awesome too! Delicious!
I LOVE chicken burgers. I really have to put them on my list… especially since I haven’t really had chicken in a while. I get the feeling I’ll be giving your recipe a try sometime soon! 🙂
Bunless Burgers are certainly the best type of burger. When will others catch on and realize there is no need to dilute the intense flavors of the beef patty with dull bread?! Haha! But wow yours look perfect and as the close up shows bursting with herbs and spices. This will be my new new burger patty recipe 🙂
Thanks much, Brooke. That’s very kind of you to say. And I totally agree on the bun being completely unnecessary. I always thought that bread tends to take way too much place with any kind of sandwich… Guess going paleo solved that problem for me! 😉
I love a burger sans buns…it’s perfect the way you’ve served it.
Did you serve those with sweet potatoes on the side?? They look good too, what’s the recipe?
To be honest, Katie, I don’t even remember what these were. I believe they were turnips. Sorry, I don’t have a recipe for them, but you wouldn’t really need one either. In the summertime, I tend to blanch a lot of vegetables like that (just throw them in boiling water or steam them for a few minutes, then chill) and throw them on the grill when I cook my meat. Then I’ll add a splash of olive oil, a sprinkle of salt and pepper and sometimes a few chopped fresh herbs and they’re good to go! 🙂
