Ingredients
A bunch of applescut in half and cored (any variety will do)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F
Place the apples in a 7 quart Dutch oven and bake until the apples get squishy and practically fall apart when you squeeze or toss them around with a spoon. This could take anywhere from 1 to 3 hours, depending on the size of your apples, the variety of apples that you used and how much you stuffed into that Dutch Oven.
Once the apples are fully cooked, let them cool for a few minutes and process them in a food mill. Alternately, if you didn't have a food mill, you could transfer the cooked apples into a colander (make sure to place that colander over a large bowl, to collect the applesauce) and then force the apples down the holes with the potato masher.
Transfer your finished apple sauce into clean jars; discard the skins that got left behind.
Your applesauce will keep for up to a few weeks in the refrigerator or can be frozen for up to several months.
