GUEST POST BY LEANNE VOGEL OF HEALTHFUL PURSUIT
Goodness gracious, I’m so pumped to be here sharing a brand spanking new recipe with you. Are you ready for some dairy-free ranch dressing awesomeness?
Before I get to the recipe, I wanted to chat with you about dairy. Do any of these explain your current relationship with dairy?
- You’re dairy-free and are less than inspired about what you’re cooking.
- You know someone who is allergic/sensitive to dairy.
- You know that dairy is an issue for you but giving it up is like being asked to cut off your left leg.
Putting the struggles and frustrations aside, let’s get real with ourselves for a minute. Honestly, do you think that dairy (milk, yogurt, butter, cream…) may be causing health issues for you? Maybe you struggle with digestive issues, fatigue, clogged sinuses, adult acne, ear infections, yeast infections?
So, so, so many of us experience these symptoms but put off going dairy-free because we imagine that a life without dairy would be no life at all. I’ll admit, giving up the good stuff can be a challenge. Many of us grew up on it, know how to cook with it, have oodles and oodles of recipes that call for it…
But it doesn’t have to be this way! We can eliminate dairy, feel good and continue to eat tasty food.
After a decade of being dairy-free and learning what it takes to thrive on the diet, I created the Done with Dairy Toolkit – a (free) guide to living dairy-free with loads of dairy-free recipes and health tips from yours truly. Plus, the recipes are gluten-free and ridiculously simple. Recipes like homemade shredded cheese for your next casserole, chocolate pudding, butter cream frosting… the opportunities are endless!
And, to give you a little taste of what you’ll find over in my Done with Dairy Toolkit, I made a dairy-free ranch dressing for you that’s also vegan, nut-free and soy-free.
Enjoy!
Dairy Free Ranch Dressing

- 1 cup non-dairy milk - I used unsweetened almond milk
- 1/4 cup raw unsalted sunflower seeds
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 2 teaspoons dehydrated onion
- 1 teaspoon coconut aminos or Braggs aminos or gluten-free tamari
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 clove garlic
- 1/4 teaspoon celery seed
- 1 tablespoon dried chives
- 1 tablespoon finely diced fresh parsley
Instructions
- Add all ingredients but chives and parsley to the jug of your high powered blender and blend for 2 minutes until smooth.
- Transfer to a resealable jar, stir in chives and parsley. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

The ranch dressing recipe looks interesting but I was wondering how thick it is.
In the picture it’s hard to tell because it’s taken from above and it looks rather thin and bubbly, almost like the consistency of milk. Would like to know before I make it.
Thank you,
Lesley
Hi Lesley! It’s pretty thick stuff… the same consistency of regular salad dressing, especially if you leave it to sit overnight. Enjoy!
Thanks so much for your quick response. Can’t wait to try it.
Ah, this is so great! I love how Leanne is so inclusive in her approach and always willing to share information – including the Done with Dairy Toolkit – it is a wonderfully helpful and generous way of being. Thank you Leanne. Your ranch dressing looks and sounds delightful and I’m pleased to share your site with clients and family members. What a wonderful first time guest blogger Sonia!
Aw thank you, Kelly!!
How long should this stay fresh in the frig? Looking forward to trying this!
