Sorry guys, I don’t have a recipe for you today…

Truth is, I haven’t had much time to write or cook in the past couple of days. I’ve been busy doing other very important things, you see?

Indeed, my daughter gave birth to our beloved and eagerly awaited little Matilde, my first grand-child, early yesterday morning.

I was blessed enough to be with her through the entire experience, too! She and her boyfriend had been spending the week-end at my place when Tasha’s water broke late Sunday night.

Of course, we immediately headed out to the hospital (wow, I never knew I could get there so fast!) and I got to stay with them the whole time, support my daughter and let her squeeze (and eventually destroy) my hand with every new contraction!

But what a beautiful experience it was. I will forever be grateful to her for allowing me to be there.

The contractions lasted all through the night, until at 5:02 in the morning, little Matilde officially took her first breath. I can’t even begin to tell you how purely magical this moment was.

Why, yes… of course, I cried!

Matilde

Sadly, though, it looks like Matilde is having a bit of a rough start in life: she’s apparently contracted some kind of an infection and, as a result, needs to be monitored very closely. The poor angel will probably have to stay in the hospital for a full week, hooked up to all kinds of feeding tubes and monitoring devices…

However, the doctors do not fear for her life and are very confident that she will be fully recovered very soon.

Grandma should be able to hold her grand-daughter in time for Christmas. And THAT, will be the most beautiful present EVER!

Still, please send a plethora of positive vibes her way for a speedy recovery!
